Coonhounds and foxhounds are woven through Tennessee’s history. They are working dogs with centuries of story in their faces. This series photographed them with the gravity they deserve. It is now closed.

The Hounds of Tennessee is part portrait series, part archive. Each hound was photographed in the studio’s signature low-key style, and each portrait is paired with the dog’s story. Where they ran, who they belonged to, what they were bred to do.
It was made in Tennessee between 2024 and 2026, and the series is now closed.

Not every frame is solemn.
One afternoon in the studio, two hounds, a cowboy hat and a red bandana. It sits apart from the series proper, which is made in low key and made in earnest. But a hound who will wear a hat is still a hound worth photographing.
Every hound has a story. This series made sure a few are never forgotten.
